Fab shoe trends from Eva Chen on the Today Show

I am so excited about Eva Chen being the new editor-in-chief of Lucky magazine!  She just keeps it real sharing everything on all of her social media and she's such a true fashionista.

I like her tip she shares that she thinks going one size up if you're not sure on the size.

My fave spread by far was, "The New Boho." I love every look!  Also, are you addicted to the Vine app like I am??  Still learning how to create a 6 second video...but, it's fun:)  Here's a quick video showing the spread that's so inspiring to me:)

Don't you wish there was an app for that?

Warning: this is long...there seem to be new apps out everyday that are catching my attention.

I want an app that tells me what mag I'm subscribed to and when those subscriptions end...that way I don't get 2 issues of one mag and know when it's time to sign up again...

Also, wish I knew of a great resource for building apps...I get so many great fashion app ideas...wish I could just develop and share them.

Until then...here are some great apps I've been using recently:

-New Zara iPad app

-The All New AE App + 20% Off

-App: thankfulfor journal
-App: Locavore app/find local farmers markets

-New lucky shopping app

-From bof:
Upcoming Zappos iPad App Mimics a Fashion Magazine (All Things Digital)
“The new black this fall: Retailers producing content alongside their products, like an online version of a glossy fashion magazine. Zappos expects to launch its first attempt at recreating the catalog experience on the iPad in early December, just in time for the holidays… Instead of being generally available in iTunes, the Zappos app will be found on Apple’s Newsstand, which organizes magazine and newspaper subscriptions for those who use iOS 5. It will be free; a new edition will appear monthly.”

-Steve madden iPad app

-Zappos Founder Launches New Site, RNKD.com

Summer Wedge by Baby Phat

I was excited when the folks at Lucky magazine contacted me to let me know I was one of the Alpha Shoppers chosen to test out a new shoe from the Baby Phat line called, "Paula".  I knew from watching Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane that Kimora was so longer affiliated with the brand which made me curious...how would the line do without her?
Well, the shoes that were sent to me were in ads in every magazine in March, so I knew what was coming and started brainstorming what I would pair the wedges with...When I received the package in the mail I opened to find wedges that are a little too large for mommy style now so I was stumped for where to wear them.  I ended up bringing the shoes to a birthday party for my brother in law.  I wore the shoes for the pictures and then had to take them off.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE high, high heels...and the shoes styling is perfect for this season with the 70's trend alive...but, at this time in my life and can't rock heels that high...even if they are wedges.  But, I do appreciate the styling of the shoe.  I think I like the brown I saw in the ads more and after checking out the site, I think I also like the gray and tan.  I don't know if I would have chosen the black first, but, they looked good on with the dress.  Another great thing is the shoe is now on sale for $49.99 from $69.

Here are the questions Lucky magazine and Baby Phat wanted me to answer:

1.  Are these shoes versatile enough to take you from day to night?

Before I was a mommy I would say definitely.  But, now...I need something a little easier to get around with a 7 month old.

2.  Paula Shoe 3 ways: Describe 3 looks these shoes would work well with.

I liked pairing the wedge with a summer dress to mix it up, but here are three other ways to rock it:
1.  Jeans, lace/crochet top and gold bangles.
2.  Maxi dress (on my list to go with everything this spring!:).
3.  Cropped pants, Tokyo top by Elizabeth and James, and Gold Hoops.

3.   Where would you wear these shoes? (i.e., brunch with the girls, clubbing at night, weekend at the beach, etc.)

Pre-baby:
I would wear these everywhere!
Now:
Evening events where baby is sleeping:)

4.  If you didn’t know these were from Baby Phat, what brand would you think made them? Have these shoes changed your perception of the brand? For better or worse?

I think I would have thought that they were Aldo if I hadn't known they were Baby Phat.  The shoes make me want to see what's coming next.  I hadn't really looked at the brand in a while because they seemed to just be a logo brand.  I really appreciate that there is no sign of the logo on the shoes.

My J.Crew tote DIY project inspired by a Prada bag

I received this J. Crew tote from the Lucky magazine fabb conference last week.  It's funny because after I saw this street style image with the Prada bag I was on the search for the J. Crew tote with no luck.  I want to get a gold chain and a ribbon to add to the handles for a fun update to an everyday tote.  I might have to do this to my SATC Patricia Fields tote too:)  We shall see...I will share how it turns out.

*I also feel like the sweater would be a fun DIY....might do this too:)

Another picture of me from Lucky Magazine's fabb conference

I LOVED the H&M cropped, high-waisted trousers!!!  She said they were on sale...I need to get to the H&M in Scottsdale ASAP!

What I'm wearing:
H&M skirt...from my NY days:)
Lands End Canvas striped top (I'm so addicted to stripes right now!)
Chinese Laundry Grey, Round toe heels
Grey Old Navy Opaque tights

Tons of great styling ideas for the classic khaki from Lucky magazine

I just bought some cropped khaki's from Lands End Canvas tonight so I'm really excited to try some of these styling ideas!

Share your style inspiration with Lucky Magazine

I'm always writing about what inspires everyone's style so I was excited when I flipped to the last page of the December Lucky magazine and read that they will be adding 'the style icon' to their monthly roundup of specialities in the magazine.  Basically you have the opportunity to send in who your style inspiration is and you might get the chance of being in the mag (submit nominations including a pic, contact info, and a brief reason why their style is so inspiring to submissions@luckymag.com)...or at least the person who inspires you will:)  I am starting to notice that magazines are leaning more towards the "real" woman to highlight in issues and leaving the model-esque woman behind...thoughts?

Although many may say this...my mom is my style icon...she has always gone with what she felt expressed her style regardless of what the trend might have been in any season or year for that matter...and the funny thing I have noticed growing up is even if no one else is rocking the style a couple seasons before...the trend always seems up showing up a little after my mom has rocked it...so cheers to her for always owning her style no matter what people think!

My dream jobs

People alway ask me what I would do if I had stayed in New York or just if I could do anything...most think I would want to be a designer...so, here's a little peek into what I would want to do...I was inspired to share this after I was so excited watching the OPRAH show today:)
Dream Jobs:
Creative Director like Jenna Lyon's
Fashion Editor to a fab fashion mag like Marie Claire, LUCKY, Bazaar or VOGUE
or just working in the fashion office of a fashion focused department store like Bergdorf Goodman or Henri Bendel...and let's not leave out Saks or Nemans:)

For those of you still going to school and trying to figure out what you want to do...buy the teen VOGUE HANDBOOK...it has all the answers!  And just remember, it's all about having fun doing what you LOVE!

LOFT brings true inspiration and great prices

I was excited when Lucky magazine sent me the LOFT's spring lookbook to review and found items I LOVED and looks that truly inspire. Here are a few looks that caught my eye.
Perfect necklaces and dress for a tropical getaway! I bought the long coral necklace! I LOVE! You can layer the necklace like they did here, or wrap it to create an entirely new look.

DIY: update your booties with sheer laces. Make with ribbon from craft store!

I just LOVED this necklace and it sold out so quick!

*LOVE this look! Update anorak jacket with scarf! Genius! Do the same thing with a trench. I didn't get the image for the anorak jacket with a brown (distressed) leather belt, but I love how it changes the look! Have fun warming up:)

This tee is very J. Crew at an AMAZING price!

DIY Inspiration: Add broaches to a dress like this instead of applique-same effect and changes the entire look.

French Chic: mini scarf, plus skinny belts are still in! Round toes are back!

*Keep rolling those trousers!

How I was inspired by Net-a-Porter's Travel selections to create my travel look

My look is the one on the left. I saw it and it screamed moi:) But, I of course had to create with what I had at home:) So, here's what I did:
Pants: American Apparel Harem Leggings
Poncho: Walmart Poncho-I didn't see anymore like this today at the store...
What I added: a gray tank-from Forever 21, Racer Back...
The comfy Ballet flats: Me Too's from Stems a Shoe Boutique
The Bag: Isaac Mizrahi for Liz Claiborne, I got it when prices dropped. So worth the cash. I have to make sure I can carry my mags on the flight:)
The funky scarf: I got lucky! I am an Alpha Shopper for LUCKY magazine and I was sent a LOFT Ann Taylor package to review and it included an AMAZING new scarf!:)
Travel Extra: I just found a new great site that helps travelers with carrying their must-have beauty items that won't get you in trouble for carrying on, the site is called, 3FLOZ and it's genius! Check it out!:)

LUCKY Alpa Shopper Review of: COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain

I wasn't sure if I shared with everyone that I am an ALPHA Shopper for Lucky Magazine:) I am really excited about this adventure with the magazine!
A couple of weeks ago, I received a package from the mag with 2 COVERGIRL Outlast Lipstain's to try out. Now, I am usually a lipgloss girl---I have over 50...I haven't counted since the time I had over 100 and the airline lost all of my coveted lipglosses, but you get the point...I like lipgloss:).
But, back to the topic. I am not really a lipstick or any other type of lip tint other than gloss girl...but, since it was sent to me I was not only excited to test it out but curious to see how it would look after watching all of those Drew Barrymore commercials. (P.S. I love Drew Barrymore!:) But, after I tried it on, I just wasn't sure...I am not used to not having a shine...but, I liked the color. Then, I got on SKYPE with my hubby who is in Kuwait and he LOVED it! He was like, what are you wearing? He could tell it wasn't the "gew" that I usually wear as he refers to my coveted lipgloss:) So, of course, I ran to the mirror to check it out again and it did look pretty good...the color was vibrant and it lasted all day. I haven't worn it outside yet, so we shall see how people respond and I want to try it with gloss on top if that isn't breaking the rules, so I will share how that turns out. But, check it out. There is even a yummy smell to the stain! Usually anything that's not a gloss or chapstick smells disgusting to me, but this had a yummy scent:)
