Shop Cover ups for everyday outfits for everyone

This post is inspired by Bobbie Thomas on the Today Show.  I say that this can be used for people traveling to keep from having to bring as much (even though it wouldn't really change how much I pack:) to another option for pregnant women.

Keep in mind, KMart is having a sale: 50% off Women's Swim & 40% off Dresses, Tops, Shorts, Capris, Sleepwear, Handbags & Belts 6/20-6/26

And, the Outnet and Net-a-Porter are having great sales right now!

Pregnant Pause: Maternity wear a' la Ashlee Simpson and Angelina Jolie

Since being preggers, I have explored the many ways to purchase new clothes for my baby bump body.  I have shopped at maternity stores and sections in stores specializing in maternity, second-hand maternity stores, thrift stores, and, I've just purchased larger sizes.
I was excited when Nuka Maternity offered me the chance to check out their maternity line.  I chose a maxi dress and a maxi skirt, because who can go wrong with those items?  Unfortunately, they sold out of the maxi skirt---which I can see happening...I still really want one (I might have to just buy one ASAP--there's still 2 months to go with my pregnancy:)  The other cool thing about the maxi skirt is it can be worn as a tube dress or a skirt!  So, they sent me a tee, which I have to say I LOVE!  It reminds me of the style I saw recently in an Intermix email blast...which made me excited...I figure it might be tight now...but, it will be just as cute loose later.  I am all about making sure I can reuse what I have now regardless:)
The maxi dress is DIVINE!  The color, the feel of the fabric and the point that I know I could still wear this after the pregnancy!
This company gets an enthusiastic two thumbs up from me!  They've got the style and the quality to back them up!  It's not like the normal maternity wear that makes you want to gag yourself!:)

The inspiration:

I always have seen Ashlee Simpson's pregnancy style as rocker chic...so the first thing I thought when I saw the tee was to match it with a maxi skirt some flat studded sandals and lots of bangles or a long, layered necklace.  And, you can't miss the shades:)

Then, there is Angelina Jolie who was always seen wearing her maxi dresses while preggers.  I think they are the go to item while pregnant.  They are comfy and still stylish.  And, it's a no nonsense styling item.

Are you on a budget with your wardrobe, or do you just like personalizing your look?

Then, you need to get in line for this book, P.S. I Made This by Erica Domesek.  It's less than $20 and you will get so much back from it!  All of her projects are easy and budget conscious!  Also check out her blog for P.S. I Made This, it's so much fun!  She's always working on other projects and shares them on her site...so don't miss out!  I can't wait to make the Ruffle Shirt ASAP!:)  I'm thinking of going to the thrift store and getting a funky vintage tee though from the men's section:)

Cupcake Couture from the Today Show...perfect for any fashionista's soiree

I'm going to use these as inspiration for my The City finale party!   I think I need this book too!:)  You can never go wrong with cupcakes!:)

Inspiration from none other than Whitney Port!

Now, when I take inspiration from a fashion editorial, celeb or someone on the street (street style) it doesn't mean I am doing the exact same ensemble.  It means, I am taking elements from the look to recreate at home with what I already have.  For instance here, I used the mix of prints and accessories to create this look at home for after my pregnancy of course...but, I can't wait to rock the look!

Here, I've got the stripes, the animal print, the layered bangles and the glitzy shoes...nothing is exact, but you see where the inspiration comes from?

Now, I had to comment on the shoes...I have been seeing a lot of sequin shoes rather than glitter this season and I have to get in on the trend!  I LOVE the look!  It definitely brings a basic look to fantastic!  Here are two very different price points for you to choose from.  Both have the same color options to choose from as well:)

Must-have summer dress from Target, a classic

Right when I saw this dress I thought of Isaac Mizrahi meets Kate Spade.  I know what they stylist was doing with the converse shoes since it goes with the brand, but I would pair this dress with a kitten heel.  I also see this type of dress being worn by Charlotte from SATC-just add a little bow belt and voila.

Beauty Duty Au' Natural

Since being preggers I have been addicted to only using the BEST on my skin since it affects the little one...with that in mind I have started using "organic" beauty items and just making my own.  This week alone I colored my hair with cinnamon, oiled my hair with olive oil and did a facial mask with honey!  When I saw this segment on the Today show, I had to share!
I've also been reading this wonderful book called, Passport to Beauty, sharing natural beauty tips from all over the world.  I have been tagging so many pages for things I want to try.  This is the BEST natural, at-home beauty book I've ever read!

Brooch Magic

Now, here's where to find those amazing brooches at a variety of price points!  (I tried to Polyvore brooches from Etsy and eBay, but wasn't able to...also, keep in mind to look at thrift stores!)  Have fun!  Also, check out Richard Nicoll's spring 2010 line for more inspiration on what to do with brooches!
