It's a furry situation...what's your take on faux fur vests??

Well, like leggings, which took me a while to catch on, I am jumping on the faux fur vest train. Wondering if you will too and if you will look for budget friendly, or extremely expensive...to the point where you pay almost as much as you would on a real fur vest? My sister who isn't very fashionably inclined laughed when I asked her if she would wear a faux fur vest this season and she said if she EVER did it would be real, what's the point (which she will do neither in case anyone has a problem with it:)...enough said...so, I was curious how people are reacting to the faux fur vest...not only are people relating it to the movie, "Where the Wild Things Are." Have you seen the fashion comparisons people have done?? They are genius, but WOW it shows what people can do to market fashion if they come up with it:) Faux all of a sudden is "in" and even though all of the shots below are paired with jeans, Rachel Zoe had said she would pair the faux fur vest with an evening look and I have seen and will style mine with chiffon blouses and straight jeans or chiffon dresses.

How it looks on, me in the dressing room:
The one I got:) New York & Company

Mannequin is the Muse for Barneys New York's Grand Opening Next Week

I am soo excited, not only do we have H&M announcing their grand opening in Scottsdale for November 5th, but Barney's New York is opening on October 15th at 12 PM and there are so many exciting things that go along with the opening and I have the scoop!

I still remember driving to Scottsdale just to see if it was true that Barneys New York was coming to Scottsdale. When I spotted the construction site and knew the legend was reality I started my countdown. Here are some shots of what to expect next week. I can't wait to walk into the store...It's so exciting after being in New York last month for New York Fashion Week and of course going into the Barneys for a catalog and to see all of the gorgeous clothes that are sold at this AMAZING store. I wonder if they will have a CO-OP department. We shall see, but until then, check out renderings and construction shots to get an idea of what it looks like.

The BIG deal for me is that Simon Doonan is going to be at the festivities so I will be able to get an autograph for my book:) But, the unexpected there is another wing to the Scottsdale Fashion Mall which includes a new store for Banana Republic. To make the evening even more exciting, there will be a fashion exhibit called, The Mannequin is our Muse where Scottsdale Fashion Square retailers, a group at Mesa Community College, local artists and even Simon Doonan (the creative director for Barneys New York) share their interpretation of style.

Here is a look at what the designers were thinking:

Simon Doonan: The creative director for Barneys New York took the household brillo pad to new heights with his creation.

Mesa Community College: Local students came up with the idea to design a collection of mannequins called "Urban Angels" to reflect the lives everyday people. Their instructor, Evonne Bowling took he

r students to a thrift shop and gave them money to buy their supplies. The series includes: A full-time mom/full-time student, a soldier, a doctor, and a rock star.

Sephora: The style muse for Sephora’s mannequin was celebrity tattoo artist Kat Von D, from TLC's LA Ink. The manager of Sephora asked Kat personally for suggestions on how to design their mannequin for the event at Scottsdale Fashion Square. Sephora's mannequin actually resembles Kat Von D.

Exciting News!!! Fabulous New York Go-To Store, 1971 REISS is Now ONLINE!

I haven't heard this news buzzing, but I heard about this while I was in New York.  I literally went into the store gushing over everything at 1971 REISS and then started to chat and found out, lo' and behold, the store was coming to online access!

Seen on the streets of New York during fashion week, the Alviero Martini

I am on the hunt for the
Alviero Martini bag...I found that on eBay prices are sky high and then, on Etsy only $22.
I am trying to figure out what is legit pricing for this vintage bag. I just found a site,
Vintage Nation that explains how you can decide the difference.
Side note: The lady above was from Italy I believe and stopped my friend and I to ask
us where the Ann Taylor store was...to be honest, I was very SURPRISED-you usually
expect to hear people searching for H&M, Zara, TopShop or Bergdorf Gooodman,
Henri Bendel or Saks...it was a kind of nice surprise. Snaps to Ann Taylor for getting
world-wide with their changes.

2 For 1 DIY: Ring Genius

I have the most genius gift idea for this holiday season that you will not believe how easy it is! My mother shared this project with me a couple of months ago and I couldn't believe it and everyone who has gushed over my rings still can't believe we made these statement rings! It also helps that costume cocktail rings are in right now. For this project, all you need are:
-vintage clip on earrings
-E-6000 glue
-Rice
-Plastic Bowl
What to do:
Do this outside because the E-6000 is really strong.  Remove the back off the clip-on earrings.  Use the E-6000 to apply the earring to the ring w/pad. Poor the rice into the bowl.   Place the ring right side up in the bowl and leave outside in the sun for 12 hours.
Voila it's perfection!
