Introducing: FEED 100 Indian Tote by Rachel Roy

Tote $78 from Rachel Roy

As Fashionalities readers know...I LOVE ALL THINGS INDIA!  So I was excited when I read about this collab.  I am definitely getting this bag and supporting the cause.  Here is more information about the project I received from the social media agency:

On a recent trip to India, Rachel worked with local Indian artisans to create the bag that is true to the local culture, and features authentic Indian detailing. According to the World Food Program, India is home to 25% of the world's hungry people and 43% of children under the age of five are malnourished.  Each FEED India bag that is sold will provide meals to 100 hungry school children in India and is now available for purchase on RachelRoy.com for $78.

Don't forget...FEED will be having a collab at Target soon too!

Video Diary: Rachel Roy | RACHEL Rachel Roy

I have always been inspired by Rachel Roy's style and having two daughters and doing her fashion thing!
Rachel is getting my fave flowers here, she gets threading done like me, she's on The City (one of my fave shows!) and more:)

Here are some exclusive Q&A with Rachel Roy and check out more of the "insider" videos from Rachel Roy's team on Youtube and be inspired!

Rachel Roy Q&A

What is your advice to other women looking to achieve your unique, stand out style?
Know yourself well. Have the confidence to wear what you want and wear it well. Experiment with unique colors and prints.

How do you balance life as a mother and a designer?
Balance needs to be worked on daily. Without a constant focus on what is truly important it will get lost every time.

What are your favorite RRR pieces for summer? What makes them your favorite?
I absolutely love the evil eye pendant. Evil eyes are loved for karma and the good energy they bring. The black scalloped shorts are a perfect combination of ease and sophistication. The Koala animal ring is fun, I always love a good cocktail ring. The printed flats with gold studs are comfortable, unique and so chic. I love the honeycomb scarf worn as a turban. And everyone always needs a cardi and my summer collection has so many different cardigans to choose from.

What is the main difference in designing for RRR compared to RRNY And RRS?
RRR is the younger sister to the designer brand. She’s fun and optimistic. I always look forward working on different collections as they bring new life to what I am working on.

What inspired you to start this video diary series?
I love watching documentaries and reading about people’s lives. These flip videos are the modern version of this. It’s also fun getting a look inside the lives of these unique designers.
Check out this video for more great ideas of what Rachel is all about:)

RACHEL ROY-LIVE via TWITTER---You won't want to miss this!

There are two opportunities to experience Rachel Roy via twitter and ask all the questions you might have and follow tomorrow what happens during the launch of her new line, Rachel Rachel Roy at Macy's!  This will happen via @Coutorture from 6-8 p.m..  Thursday is just for you and will be a time for Rachel to answer any questions you might have---this will happen 3 p.m. EST via Rachel's account @Rachel_Roy.  I have included the tweets that Rachel has on the right hand side of my blog so people can follow if they don't have/don't want a twitter account...but, I assure you fun things like this are always happening on Twitter and it is so worth joining.  You can also do like I have done and forward what you post on Twitter to Facebook so you are killing two birds with one stone:)
I love Rachel's girly styling with an edge and I hope that transfers over to her Macy's line...I have one piece from her line that I purchased at a sample sale and I still LOVE wearing it!  Now to mix that piece with her new pieces:)  YAY!  I am going to come up with questions for her tonight:)  Can't wait to hear her responses...she seems so real!

Take Note: WWD picks

I was skimming through a lot of WWD this weekend and wanted to share the highlights that stood out to me:

  •  Indian designer Suneet Varma, not only received an aware from Bollywood as designer of the year, but he will also design the costumes for Goldie Hawn's new movie, "Ashes to Ashes."  His looks are currently sold in Indian under the garment label, Le Spice.
  • Something to look forward to, H&M will be partnering with Marimekko to use vintage(( (50's to 70's) prints this Spring 2008.  The prints are very bright with an ethnic influence.
  •  Uniqlo is everywhere!  I am hearing about it on the fashion makeover shows to reading about it in WWD~I say that this is a sign and the store is going to be BIG like ZARA, H&M and MEXX are...
  • Rachel Roy is about to be everywhere...I remember when Tracy Reese was only at select stores, and now I feel like she is everywhere.  I am very excited for Rachel Roy, she definitely deserves this!  With the change, she will also be adding new categories and open freestanding retail units in key U.S. locations.
  • Tokyo Girls are doing fashion shows BIG!  I am uploading a You Tube video for everyone to get an idea of what they do...great for inspiration.  The even start in 2005 with only 1,500 attendees, this year it rose to 24,000...could you imagine New York fashion week at that level...also sites to take note of: www.girlswalker.com, www.fashionwalker.com, and www.stylewalker.com.
  • French Connection is supposed to be remodeled in SoHo...I am not sure if this is going to spark something new for the store...but, good luck to them...I remember when everyone wanted a FCUK top...now it's like oh, that brand...
  • Nordstrom is getting on the map, so it seems...they are looking into a Park Avenue Site...lets all cross our fingers...they have been "eyeing" New York City for years now...I think that their New York City Store will be a Must-Go-To once it happens though:)
  • Book to get:  The Tokyo Look Book-get inspired on so many levels.

shopbop.com has always been AMAZING and has been providing additions to the site that we have all grown to love like the lookbook, trends option and now something even BIGGER....(drum roll...), the designer boutique. The site already had up and coming designers like Rachel Pally, Lauren Moffatt, L.A.M.B., Nieves Lavi and much more...and now their is a chic lineup of only the best from clothes to accessories. Definitely designer costs, but it is a start...for now, I will just be visiting for inspiration, but snaps*to shopbop.com, they are doing some BIG things!
