A few things I picked up in Portland and how I'm going to style them

Styling my new purchases

On my trips to Portland I usually try to visit as many vintage shops as possible.  This trip the hubby came with a focus for purchasing his necessities for his new job in India.  So we decided to take advantage of the cool stores and no tax!  I was excited to find that the City Target in downtown Portland had all of the items fully stocked for the Peter Pilotto line so I picked up a pair of shoes and sunnies.  Then, the hubby bought a suit at J. Crew and I was checking out the sale section and found this tunic that will pair fabulously with my new shoes.  Plus, will be soo cute in India:)  Didn't buy a lot in Portland, but got some cut pieces:)  Now, to get the Mar Y Sol bag:)

Loving the 6 colors J. Crew is recommending to wear for spring!

If you don't get the J. Crew catalog in the mail or from the store...and, I think you can get it online. You're missing out on so much inspiration! Even their emails have amazing style tips! Today I received, "Spring must-haves: 6 colors to wear right now." I think I'm going to wear my sea foam/glass (as they called it) green dress today since it will be in the 90's:)

The search for the perfect iPhone Case

Since getting the iPhone 5 I've been searching for a case that is protective and stylish...I've found mainly stylish...but, thought I'd share what's caught my eye:)

-Boostcase

~Fashion meets Function
I just randomly found out about this brand from ifb (independent fashion blog)...I was reading through the daily email and saw a case...the one they posted was kind of basic...but, I figured lets see what they are about.  Then, I saw that they were posting about fashion on twitter and got even more curious.  Went to there site and wanted to SCREAM!  It's genius!  Great site!  The prices aren't that bad...I went for the not so basic style and it's $80.  They offer basic cases which just has the case, cases that also have a wallet like above and cases that have a battery which extends the life of your phone.  Don't we always need that??  These are also sold at stores like Nordstrom for those who want to get points;)

-Jagger Edge

I've been eyeballing these cases for a little over 2 years now...the only thing holding me back is the price...I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the edge that the grommets offer.  *update...just realized they have options for $48 now.  They used to ONLY be $98.  I have to say any other grommet case I have seen since just looks way cheaper than their brand and that's why I've never tried anything else.  I also love how the brand offers cases that can have charms.  That's what I used to miss from my flip phone.  The charms:)

-Kate Spade

Has the cutest styles you'll find! I'm not sure if they are really protective...but, great prices and fun styles! Only have 4 and 4s options right now. FREE SHIPPING!

-J. Crew

Another really great cute option at a great price is from J. Crew.  I'd say this is an option to have as an extra to dress up your phone when you get tired of your "regular" protective case.  It looks like they only have iPhone 4 cases and they are on sale for $20...regularly $25 so a fun option like I said at that price.
They are also offering other accessories like battery backups!

-Incase Chrome Slider iPhone Case

On sale for $10 from $35!  But, only available for iPhone 4 right now.

-2ME - GOLD STUDS AND LEATHER I-PHONE COVER
This is a high end case...but, oh so chic at $140...for someone who wants a fab piece:)

The perfect mommy shoe as seen on Who What Wear this morning

Since having Sahara, who is now 2. I've traded in my 5" and up heels for flats, kitten heels and wedges. But, recently I started noticing the block heel and was interested. Anyone else liking? The ladies at Who What Wear have caught a fancy and shared today. My faves are the gold heel styles at J. Crew that are around $200. And the ballerina styles at ZARA that range from $49.99-90. These are the new kitten heel with a little more comfort because of the thicker heel.

Velvet Tee please

I just saw a pose from J. Crew stating that velvet tee's are the item to have this holiday season. They can be a casual piece to your classy holiday ensemble. Or played down with a pair of jeans. After I saw the price tag of $110 I instantly thought vintage! I bet you could find one for less than $20. J. Crew is offering theirs in pink and navy blue...but, I say any color works. Happy searching!

The perfect wedge pump

This wedge pump has the comfy look of a "wedge", but has a sexy edge that has caught my eye over and over with the sleek look that the shoe takes on by combining wedge & pump...I keep seeing this style everywhere and I'm trying to decide which I like the most...ok, I know the J. Crew is my fave, but it's also the most expensive:)  So, we shall see where I meet in the middle:)

Looking back...inspiration from the fall 2011 J. Crew show

They never stop inspiring me...it's good I looked back:)
I love how they styled:
-a blazer under a puffy vest...great layering.
-a laid back way to wear a cape.
-love the color combo of burgundy (which is on the trend radar right now) and mint (which I'm loving!).

My J.Crew tote DIY project inspired by a Prada bag

I received this J. Crew tote from the Lucky magazine fabb conference last week.  It's funny because after I saw this street style image with the Prada bag I was on the search for the J. Crew tote with no luck.  I want to get a gold chain and a ribbon to add to the handles for a fun update to an everyday tote.  I might have to do this to my SATC Patricia Fields tote too:)  We shall see...I will share how it turns out.

*I also feel like the sweater would be a fun DIY....might do this too:)

Options~Options: DIY or NOT the chiffon ballet flat inspired by J. Crew of course

I am in LOVE with the entire J. Crew spring line and although I wish I could afford EVERYTHING, it just won't happen.  So, I'm excited to share my DIY idea for the Pom-Pom ballet flats that are one of Jenna's pics (so of course they are FAB!!).  The made in Italy tag would look nice on my feet...but, I have to admit that I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Old Navy ballet flats.  Anytime I stop someone to ask where their ballet's are from they always end up being Old Navy...so, recently I have kept my eye peeled for cute styles and I've purchased 3!!!  And then, when I received my J. Crew catalog this weekend (it's always a HUGE deal when it comes in the mail--I LOVE the J. Crew catalogs) I decided I had to share my DIY project.

You can either buy chiffon flower shoe clips by Ban.do for $25.  Plus, sign up for their newsletter and receive 15% off.

Or, make your own chiffon flowers.  Here are the DIY directions I found.  I LOVE the color that J. Crew did with the snakeskin ballet flats.  You can buy white chiffon fabric and dye it with Rit Dye, I say the closest color is Yellow #41, they provide the directions for how to achieve this color on the Rit Dye site.  Here are the directions:
1/4 Tsp Pearl Grey *
1 Tbs Lemon Yellow
1 Cup Water

Just brooch it

I have been inspired by the simple brooch recently and wanted to share a few ideas for how to update your look with a couple of brooches!  It's the easiest and cheapest way to update a look!

Blogger Karla from Karla's Closet really inspires me with the way she styles her looks with brooches...I had to share her site first so you can refer to her site for more ideas on a regular basis.

I just watched the America's Next Top Model finale and I was inspired by the "Ugly, Pretty"shoot where it looks like they used brooches in the hair, genius!  Even if they weren't brooches...you can try the same look with brooches at home:)  I love DIY (design it yourself:)

Marie Claire had two great ideas for how to update your basics this summer from a basic tee to your fave denim shorts that you can make with vintage Levis or get at J. Crew.

Bracelet Buzz

I keep seeing this group of bracelets from pearls to rhinestones paired together that I had to share!  The inspiration of course, came from a page in the June catalog for J. Crew.  I think they were just separate pieces for them, but I found sets from all of the places I found similar styles.

Here is the Loft's version for $24.50: The promo right now is, to buy any full-price item, get the 2nd full-price item 50% off.  Use code save50 at checkout!
