Summer Wedge by Baby Phat

I was excited when the folks at Lucky magazine contacted me to let me know I was one of the Alpha Shoppers chosen to test out a new shoe from the Baby Phat line called, "Paula".  I knew from watching Kimora: Life in the Fab Lane that Kimora was so longer affiliated with the brand which made me curious...how would the line do without her?
Well, the shoes that were sent to me were in ads in every magazine in March, so I knew what was coming and started brainstorming what I would pair the wedges with...When I received the package in the mail I opened to find wedges that are a little too large for mommy style now so I was stumped for where to wear them.  I ended up bringing the shoes to a birthday party for my brother in law.  I wore the shoes for the pictures and then had to take them off.
Don't get me wrong, I LOVE high, high heels...and the shoes styling is perfect for this season with the 70's trend alive...but, at this time in my life and can't rock heels that high...even if they are wedges.  But, I do appreciate the styling of the shoe.  I think I like the brown I saw in the ads more and after checking out the site, I think I also like the gray and tan.  I don't know if I would have chosen the black first, but, they looked good on with the dress.  Another great thing is the shoe is now on sale for $49.99 from $69.

Here are the questions Lucky magazine and Baby Phat wanted me to answer:

1.  Are these shoes versatile enough to take you from day to night?

Before I was a mommy I would say definitely.  But, now...I need something a little easier to get around with a 7 month old.

2.  Paula Shoe 3 ways: Describe 3 looks these shoes would work well with.

I liked pairing the wedge with a summer dress to mix it up, but here are three other ways to rock it:
1.  Jeans, lace/crochet top and gold bangles.
2.  Maxi dress (on my list to go with everything this spring!:).
3.  Cropped pants, Tokyo top by Elizabeth and James, and Gold Hoops.

3.   Where would you wear these shoes? (i.e., brunch with the girls, clubbing at night, weekend at the beach, etc.)

Pre-baby:
I would wear these everywhere!
Now:
Evening events where baby is sleeping:)

4.  If you didn’t know these were from Baby Phat, what brand would you think made them? Have these shoes changed your perception of the brand? For better or worse?

I think I would have thought that they were Aldo if I hadn't known they were Baby Phat.  The shoes make me want to see what's coming next.  I hadn't really looked at the brand in a while because they seemed to just be a logo brand.  I really appreciate that there is no sign of the logo on the shoes.

Wedding style

Pumps
$25 - kmart.com

I am in LOVE with blush hues right now...it is my taupe for spring.  I am planning on wearing these shoes with everything!  If you check out my previous post on what I purchased for this Lucky Alpha Shopper and Kmart piece, I also bought a pair of great ballet flats with this color.  My sister and I saw a style similar to what we bought at Kmart in J. Crew...great trend!

*This is me before my hair came down...I didn't want it to get frizzy before the festivities:)  I shared a pic of the full on hair with a friend below.
Dress: Target Go International dress by Zac Posen
Tights: Old Navy (inspired by the gray tights worn by the girls of America's Next Top Model (shared here) last season when they were walking for Zac Posen.)
Shoes: Kmart, Glo jeans

This was to stay warm outside and kind of reminded me of a Gossip Girl look that Blair would sport...Jacket is my sister's from White House Black Market.
Me with my girl, Latoya:)  The hair was pretty much over by this point...but, you get the idea...I have another picture with Sahara on facebook if you are really curious:)

Geek Chic: My Kmart shirt and the rest of the look, inspiration and all

Here is my day look out and about in Portland, Oregon.  I'm visiting for about two weeks.  I love the weather here!

My look:

Denim jacket: Old from GAP...had it since I was in high school:)
Faux fur vest: NY & CO last year.  This layering was inspired by a street style look below.
Tee: Kmart spring line, Route 66.  This is one of the items from my Kmart/Lucky Alpha Shopper spring styling exercise.
Pants: From H&M...I'm in LOVE!  I spotted these while at the Lucky Blogger Conference in New York last month.
Shoes: I am in LOVE!  My mom just gave them to me on my visit to Portland.
I added the glasses and a knit turband from ASOS after and I loved the geek chic look:)

The inspiration for this look: I can pull inspiration from everywhere and come up with ensembles from what I already own.  It's like a game for me.  I save all of my inspiration shots in my app, Stylebook.
This is from a street style blog.  I think it was Vanessa Jackman.

Get to the Swim Spot

Don't you hate when it's time to find a swim suit and none of the stores in your area have styles that you are looking for??  And you see styles you like online but don't want to deal with paying for shipping and returns if the swim suit doesn't look right when you get it?  Fear no longer...I've found a site called, Swimspot through the Lucky Magazine Alpha Shopper group that allows you to shop through different brands from Hurley to Ella Moss and ships and returns for FREE!  There are styles for every lady from teens to adult.  Plus, cover-ups.

The site is also genius not just because of style selections and brands, but because there is a fit specialist program.  You can email or call a specialist, or personal shopper you could say to help you find the perfect suit for your body type.  And, if you just don't have time to reach out, check out their sample selections of each body type to give you direction for your shopping.

Get the all-American girly look with Tommy Tommy Hilfiger's swimwear and cover-ups.

I LOVE paisleys, so this is the first style that caught my eye:)

I love this funky print and that you can add one strap to make this suit look new when your out on your vaca.

Cute cover-ups by Ella Moss:

Such a cute retro style.

I love how you could wear this cover-up as a top!

REEF trendy style...I'm in LOVE!

The site is smart because depending on your size you might like a print but can't wear a top or bottom in a certain style so you can use the Bikini Builder that allows you to mix and match the styles you like and that work with your body type.  The only catch is that there are only 4 brands you can choose from and they provide the styles you can mix and match.  But, still a lot of fun!

Deal Tip:
Sign up to be a Swimspot VIP and get $25 off of a $100 purchase which is pretty easy since you are buying separates from the site!

After checking out this site to share with you for the Lucky magazine Alpha Shoppers I can't wait to share with you what I get with the $100 gift card I am receiving for reviewing the site.  Stay tuned.
