Makeup Masterpieces

Ok, I know everyone has probably seen this item in every mag you have picked up---and maybe that is why I decide I had to have it...but, I just received my Coralista by Benefit in the mail today and I am so excited!  This is the blush to have this summer!  It gives your skin the perfect glow with a color that is a mix of peach, pink and gold.  This is definitely my must-have for this summer.  I already have tabs on a couple of items I would like to try from Benefit now...I will keep everyone updated:)  BTW--sign up on the Benefit site today and receive 10% off your next purchase!
Another must-have this summer is Revlon...After I found out that Walgreens had buy one get one free for Revlon I rushed over and purchased the kohl eye liner with a smudger (works wonders) and a coral lip gloss for the summer...like I said, coral is my color of choice for this summer:)
I also read about the 3D Mascara on Who What Wear Daily and decided I had to test it out...I would only give the mascara **...I don't feel like my lashes look any longer and I think that the product is really clumpy which I do not like...I like length and thickening, but not goopy:)

Keeping It Real: Calling All Girls 5'7 and below: Yes---this is your chance to be on ANTM!!!!!!!!

Tyra is innovative and thinks outside the box...I am so excited to say that she has gone beyond looking for different looking beautiful (tall girls) and plus size (tall) models to now ladies who are not the expected height for a model...I applaud her for this and I can't wait to see the potential of this season...You have to keep in mind, a lot of the celebs that do the ads in the mags we see and on commercials are not that tall...I am not sure if she is going to do runway with the shorter models...but, I imagine that if they are wearing high enough heels and can work it, it will all work out...so AUDITION, please!  Check the site now because auditions start as early as March 7th!

Speaking of plus size models....Forever 21 is now offering plus size clothing called, Faith 21!  Really exciting!  I can never seem to fit their pants---now, I might have a chance!!!!!!!  Or, they will need to come up with something for the middle:)

DVF Overload~in a good way:)

I am reading the Assouline biography on DVF-written by Andre' Leon Talley, she is all over The City, and she is running all things fashion...but, she also gets to make a statement on Saks.com.  Check out the video here to find out what her inspiration has always been.  Everyone should own at least 1 DVF wrap dress...it's an essential for every wardrobe...I have decided that I need a wrap blouse for my wardrobe as well;)

Dashiki---this is the style for the day

I have made it my focus to find a dashiki on ebay since I am LOVING the Mara Hoffman style on Shopbop, but just can't afford it at this time...but, it looks like what I am finding on eBay is just as good....

2 Weeks Only: Net-A-Porter Sale

Net-a-Porter's 40% off sale is only lasting for two weeks starting tomorrow and then will end...who wants to miss a chance of getting a great deal off of the best fashion site ever!?  Here are some of the items that caught my eye...

Underneath It All: Elle Macpherson Lingerie

I am in LOVE with all things Elle Macpherson has to offer in her lingerie line.  The website is an interactive magazine that is an intimate experience for your lingerie experience.  The editorials/image shots are so unique and unlike any lingerie site I have ever seen!
This season, the line is all about sexy, which of course, lingerie should be...but, there is a vintage feel to the sexy that isn't...trashy, to be honest...when I saw the line, I was refreshed.  I can feel sexy without feeling like a freak...I think that a complete look is all about having the right lingerie that fits, compliments what you are wearing and makes you feel sexy...maybe no one else will see what is worn underneath, but there is an air about a woman who wear the right undergarments.
I got to test the product out and it is as good as it looks online---It's fabric is really soft and eco-friendly...and the prices for all of the products are also really easy on the wallet...I tried:

Procession- New Basic introduced for S'09. Releasing in Feb, but available year round
Color: jet (pictured), also available in Nude
Retail: $68 contour bra, $62 underwire, $30 bikini, $24 thong
Description: This eco-friendly style made from Bamboo Cotton and Sea Cell is super soft and easy to wear for everyday comfort. Available in a popular plunging contour bra for added shape.

Store credit: BareNecessities.com or Saks Fifth Avenue

For everyday, no fuss lingerie, I am going to have to try Instinct...it just looks so comfy, but still has the demi cut that I think will make me rise to the occasion so matter what I am wearing.  Harmonies is also a really cute every-day look:)

I always recommend signing up for an email list on a site that you love the brand because you will get updates on sales or events which I think is VERY worth it:)  So, of course...I signed up today!

The New Fashion Game: Chicette

I LOVE this look---which is of course, Matthew Williamson...you have to check out the New York mag site, they have done some changes and it looks really good!

*My sister HATES this look---but, I think it is fun and it goes with the trend from the spread that I saw in the mag:)

I finally got to read Isaac Mizrahi's book, How to Have Style and I was so inspired.  Isaac is always ready to speak to women in every shape and at every price.  The biggest thing I took away from the book was to have fun with what you have---the whole package from your body to the clothes you already own.  I kind of already do this, but I wanted to share what I do with everyone.  Basically, I see something in a magazine, or even something someone is wearing that I see on the street and recreate the look with something I have at home.  It's a fun game to get you excited about what you already own instead of going out and always having to buy something new...which goes back to our new recessionistas:)

Review: Celeb Lines, DO or DON'T...You decide

I usually don't shoot down lines/brands, but recently I have stopped into some department stores and I have honestly been disappointed.  A couple of weeks ago, I finally stopped into Sears to check out the LL Cool J line that I had been hearing about developments for since I was at Saks...and yes, he was scoping out working with Saks I guess because P. Diddy had done the same...but, after seeing his line at Sears I really don't think that Saks would have accepted it...I think it is nice how LL developed the line wanting to share his fashion/styling with so many people...but, I don't think it really has much to it...And it is funny because he was recently on the E! network's Fashion Police show and he was sporting the clothing...I think what he should have done was stick to men's only...
Another let down...
Today, I finally ventured into JC Penney after watching Confessions of a Shopaholic and was sad about the Fabulosity line...I am very in to the show and all that Kimora is about...but, the line at JC Penney just does nothing for me...I think that urban lines really need to bring more to the style scope...It would be nice if you could actually find the items that are on the runway shows that she does...it's kind of like Heatherette...you never find the good stuff...
Target does looks for less, but there is still a variety of looks that fit a trend.
I also checked out the I (heart) Ronson line at JC Penney today and wasn't as moved as I thought I would be after all of the commercials that caught my attention...the prices are definitely nice, but besides that nothing really did it for me.
One thing I do have to share on a positive note is that I didn't know that Chip & Pepper had a line at JC Penney...the look was the tattered jeans that are in right now...the price was great, but they only came in flare and boot cut...something to check out though.

Get To Know The Owner of Fabulous Fashion Finds: Ashley Nobbe

I asked a couple of questions of the buyer, owner, designer and brand manager of Fabulous Fashion Finds to really find out how someone gets into such a cool gig like this:)  I also love to get inside a creative persons head and see what they are LOVING...it might be something we might not know about...and FYI, Ashley Nobbe's definitely has some things I didn't know about.

1.  What's the secret...where do you search for your fabulous fashion finds?

$$$That is the million dollar question.$$$ (That I bet we all want to know:)   Unfortunately I don’t kiss and tell.  My Fabulous Fashion Finds come from a variety of places. I hand pick only the best items and items that I think “could” be really cool once I am done reconstructing them.

2.  How did you decide to start your own business?

I graduated from college 6 months ago with a degree in Marketing. I started looking for work and due to the economy NO ONE was hiring. I started to flip out till one day I thought to myself, “ Do what you love to do for yourself” So I started with 10 samples of  vintage items I had previously reconstructed for myself and after those sold  I did another 10 and  then  I just kept going till Fabulous Fashion Finds was born.

 3.  Do you do anything on the side, or is Fabulous Fashion Finds your only job?

Yes, I also own an accessories line called Poodlies.   Right now my hot item is these feather headbands I make by hand. I use vintage buttons and beads, so they are each one of a kind. I just expanded the line to carry hand made jewelry, which will also use vintage finishes and fabrics.

4.  Why did you choose Etsy for your store online?

Etsy has been my secret shopping source for years. There are so many talented designers on there.  I am just thankful that I am able to sell on a site that features so many talented designers.

5.  Do you have plans to open your own store?

I definitely want to expand FFF.  I love the online business though; I can work from my studio in my favorite vintage house dress and sell my clothes to people all over the world from behind the curtain of my computer.

FFF is actually open to the public.  I have a studio in my home where girls can come and shop by appointment. Lots of girls from Miami (where I am from) come and shop with me on a weekly basis.

My goal is to eventually have a large industrial space where I can do all my sewing in the back and have my store in the front, but no matter what I will always be 50% online. I shipped to Finland today; I mean how cool is that?

6.  I saw in one of your blogs that you were looking for a vintage coffee table...where do you find antique furniture?

I travel a lot and am a pack rat, so I have acquired quite the collection of things over my travels. I also lived in a really cool college town where there were lots of antique furniture shops.  I also LOVE estate sales.   If you ever see an estate sale GO!   It is so worth it.

7.  How would you describe your style?

Romantic, girly, sparkles, drag queen! I love sparkles and anything that has glitz. I also love the slightest hint of a costume in an outfit.  My signature look is a dress or a skirt. I own maybe 2 pairs of jeans which I never wear.  I like things that flow and that are SHORT ;)

8.  Where are your fave places online to shop?

Goldsaturn.com

FabulousFashionFinds.net

Etsy.com

www.chictopia.com/ ÃŸ Great for up and coming indie designers

9.  What are your fave stores to shop?

I love boutiques and vintage stores.  I love to mix current looks with vintage wear.  One of my favorite vintage stores is in New York City. It is called Opera Vintage. They have an amazing collection of vintage clothes and furniture and there prices are very reasonable.  Best of all, all the proceeds go to the New York City opera.

10.  Who are your favorite designers, why?

My favorite designer/ stylist is Patricia Fields.  I think she is a breath of fresh air. Her style and line is amazing. She is girly/ edgy and is not afraid to mix new with vintage clothes. I also love that she is an older woman and refuses to dress like one.  If she wanted she could turn a paper clip into a fashion statement.

I also love a line called Otis & Maclean. I love their dresses.

11.  Who do you like to check out on Etsy?

I like to just browse. I usually type in “vintage mini dress” and get a variety of different sellers.

12.  What are your favorite blogs and magazines?

1. Fashionista.com

2. Perezhilton.com

3. Nylon

4. Runwayfashion.com

5. Dailycandy.com

6. Vogue

13.          Who inspires your fashion choices?

History. I think looking at past eras is a great way to find inspiration for potential designs. I love looking at past shows and photos and seeing what other designers have done.

I also get inspired by Stevie Nicks and Carly Simon. I love there look in the 70’s, Eclectic bohemian woman with long flowing hair and strong souls.

The Bad Girl Has Got The LooK: Olivia Palermo

She might be the bad girl on the show...and she must be LOVING the attention since that is what she was looking for with the show, but I think she has the look down...she changes the hair, the makeup is signature for her, and each look is right on point.  It's funny, when I did the search for her, she has an OFFICIAL FAN site on blogspot...I like to follow looks, but, I won't say that I am "a fan."
I wonder if Olivia does anything on a budget...I'd like to see her shop at a store like Beacon's Closet...

Vintage: Fabulous Fashion Finds

I am addicted to this Etsy retailer!  She knows what she is doing with vintage...she finds items that are relevant to fashion right now!  I almost don't want to share the images, because I know everyone is going to go for all of the items I want and then they will be gone...but, sharing is caring!  Happy Shopping:)  I love all of the prints and the prices are AMAZING all under $50!

Also, check out Ashley, the sellers blog, it recaps her LOVE for fashion and shares her day to day fashion world.

Fall in Love With a Sneak Peek of Christian Siriano shoes at Payless Shoe Source

Yummy shoes to expect at Payless...I am on the edge of my seat...I can't wait to see how these look in person, on my feet....I can't wait!!!!!!

Keeping it Casual

These are the key casual items every girl should get into their closet:
Nixon watch...I have never been a watch wearer...I always check out the watches people wear and I have noticed recently that celebs watches have been in the limelight recently...it's all about the Rolex baby:)  I guess, everyone needs to know what time it is:)
Everyone needs Citizens of Humanity Jeans for their casual, but "together" look...dress it up for night or pair it with a white tee.
Rachel Pally dress-this is a great comfy, but dressy style that makes it easy to get up and go without stress.  I love the print on maxi dresses this spring to be inspired by the Matthew Williamson spring 2009 runway...add a skinny belt and a fab, brilliant bib necklace.

WooHoo! Vivienne Tam mixes the colors for fall

I love the color combos at the Vivienne Tam show for fall 2009 which were based on the Chinese character for "nothingness"-wu-.  These colors are a mantra that I would love to add to my look next fall...
I also want the HP Mini Vivienne Tam Edition...it's so me and I would use it for all things fashion of course...I just saw a top by DVF on The City that would compliment this laptop perfectly!

Ok sidenote: I love this dress by DVF too:)
