FREE Fashion Week app by New York Magazine and The Cut

This was sent to my email today.

Sadly, I am waiting for the newest iPad so I can video chat with my hubby when he is away (he is in the Air Force), but it seems like so many new things are coming out that I want to just have the iPad now...the newest thing I wish I could have at least on my iPhone is the Fashion Week app by New York magazine and The Cut.  I know it's going to be GENIUS!

The New Fashion Game: Chicette

I LOVE this look---which is of course, Matthew Williamson...you have to check out the New York mag site, they have done some changes and it looks really good!

*My sister HATES this look---but, I think it is fun and it goes with the trend from the spread that I saw in the mag:)

I finally got to read Isaac Mizrahi's book, How to Have Style and I was so inspired.  Isaac is always ready to speak to women in every shape and at every price.  The biggest thing I took away from the book was to have fun with what you have---the whole package from your body to the clothes you already own.  I kind of already do this, but I wanted to share what I do with everyone.  Basically, I see something in a magazine, or even something someone is wearing that I see on the street and recreate the look with something I have at home.  It's a fun game to get you excited about what you already own instead of going out and always having to buy something new...which goes back to our new recessionistas:)

Fashion Week is ON!

Another New York fashion week is occurring and I am missing it again:( Boo-hoo...but, life goes on, I guess...
But, there are grand happenings that are making it much easier for people like moi to experience all of the fashion happenings on a variety of levels.
A.  First and foremost, one of my fave bloggers, The Most Knowledgeable Fashion Blogger I know, Sarah Conley from Style It Online sharing all of her experiences through her blog at New York Fashion Week.
B.  All iPhone holders---I am now one:)  Can access fashion week and fab fashion blogs during the week of every fab fashion week via your iPhone.  I was soo excited when I read about this in the NYT two weeks ago!  Makes me proud to be an iPhone holder:) They think of everything.  "Designer Collections Packed Into An iPhone."
C.  Just keeping up with fashion everywhere...seems like everyone is emailing me updates from their perspective of fashion week...here are a few to flip through:

Men in Skirts

Not kilts, skirts...I saw an image of this on The Sartorialist the other day and had to show my metro hubby to see what he said and he simply stated that he is brave...I am not sure how to take a man in a skirt just yet...we'll see if this will be a trend like the high waist jeans for women that just doesn't catch on to everyone...or if it will surprise us and take over the sagging trend:)  I decided to blog about this because I saw that New York Magazine had an article dedicated solely to this trend...we shall see how this catches on.

Conrad's line out of the "in" already...Should Heidi Be Scared...

*The skirt should be here by September...I am waiting:)  BTW---high waisted skirts are going to be fab for this fall...pair with your black patent round toe pumps or black patent loafers with cut outs!
New York Magazine is stating that Kitson is dropping the Lauren Conrad line...funny, I am still awaiting my coveted Cindy Skirt that comes out this fall...but, of course, I had to look at Kitson to see if their Lauren items were on sale and the only dress that was still there is still full price...so, ladies near a Kitson store...keep an eye out...Lauren pieces might be dropping.
Before I read the New York Magazine headline today, I had already started asking about what to expect for this fall from Lauren's line and I am actually quite excited...(hint, hint...I am giving them the publicity that Kitson says they are lacking:)  The sillhouettes remind me of fun pieces I would want if I were in LA...so, it is fitting that she is creating these...they are items you'd think would be everywhere, that you want...but, you just can't seem to find...
I love the theme for Holiday, my favorite SJP movie ever!  "Girls Just Want To Have Fun!"  And I can definitely see girls having fun in these pieces at a club or a girls night out!  And in the holiday collection styles are named after famous celeb singers who have, of course, influenced fashion and trends.
So, don't always listen to the negatives on brands...check it out first and then decide what you think...

Fashion Sitings

With Fashion week on the verge, everyone must be getting antsy like me...another year not in the tents...I can't be too sad I guess, there are so many options to watch the shows now...I really can't complain...I can play dress up in every look I've got sit at my tv and take notes...ok, so the allure isn't there...but, at least we have the options, and here they are...whatever works for you...we have so many options...

As I had said last week, Elle is doing BIGGER and better things and revamping the magazine...I said that I look to www.elle.com for all of their great interactive fashion blogs, stories, shows etc. and now they will be featured on HSN starting August 18th, so get your Tivo's and DVR's ready to tape all of the inside shows all day long with nothing but fashion week and style tips from the greatest editors from ELLE:)

There is also:
www.Style.com
www.Net-a-porter.com (You will have to get their NOTES for the Fall Season coming soon!)
www.nymag.com (With the Fug Girls Sharing their thoughts)
www.fashionweekdaily.com (for what's going on behind the scenes and what is being whispered in the tents)

Who needs to go to the tents anymore??? Ok, we all want to still…but, at least now we have options to feel like we are right there in the front row…What other sites will people be watching?
