Surprise, Surprise...

I can't believe Lipstick Jungle is coming back and Cashmere Mafia is not...how does that work out?  I watched both of course...but, I clicked more with the story line and clothes in Cashmere Mafia...Yes, Lipstick Jungle like Sex and the City was brought to us by Candace Bushnell...but, Lipstick doesn't even touch SATC...oh well, I guess I will still be watching it...I can't lie...hopefully it has gotten better...

I blogged about Marie Claire a couple of issues ago....the magazine is making some drastic changes, and I am liking it...the pub is keeping some of its classic elements like the 101 Ideas and the real women stories from women across the world...but, the magazine is looking more up to date and relate-able. Yes, SJP is on the main cover, but as you flip, each lady has her own cover shot;)

SATC is inspiring special Products Everywhere!

Bag, Borrow, or Steal is BIG again because of Carrie's Assistant on Sex and the City?  Will you indulge now?  Will this company get its second wind?  I own a couple of fab bags...but, the classics...will I give in to the trendy pieces for a week of glory?  We shall see...OMG!  Just checking and an Hermes for a week is $1632! I need to start with basics like a Fendi or a Dior:)  Juicy Couture is only $12 a week:)

CW Girlfriends Cancelled

I am not sure what I am going to do now.  I LOVED watching Joan's looks provided by costume designer Stacy Beverly.  What will I do now?  There really weren't that many television programs with woman of color as leading ladies that were stylish.  This was what we all called the black Sex and the City...I wonder if they will do like they did with Sex and the City and try to make something new more like Cashmere Mafia than Lipstick Jungle...lets hope for the best.  I hope that Tracee Ellis Ross goes on to do fabulous things. 

Sadly, Unimpressed: Lipstick Jungle

I am hoping to have second thoughts this week about Lipstick Jungle after the premiere it just didn't move me, the story line, the styling/fashion, nothing.  I am really hoping it steps up.  They are even trying new things including the magazine from the show on the website for Lipstick Jungle. I thought it would be a contender with Cashmere Mafia or bring back memories of Sex and the City, but it does neither.  I am hopeful for this week, but I really doubt it will  move me.

It Was Big...and If You Want It...Here is Where To Find It...

I am referring to the Fendi bag...the bag that Carrie Bradshaw from Sex and the City made HUGE due to her fascination with the baguette style...With the Sex and the City movie coming...I figured I would get started on where to find our dream items that will be coming...Just because of my obsession with the show, I bought a Fendi (that I still have and have only used twice) from Beacon's Closet just because I could actually afford it...I still remember the episode where Carrie decides that she will buy a fake from a guy selling from his car...but, if you have the money to buy a Fendi (whatever style) and the scare of the recession hasn't hit you yet...you can easily "find" styles at the Find appropriately enough.  You can find some great deals on these pieces that we lust after...

Cashmere Mafia: the review

Cashmere Mafia, the new comedy on ABC to fill our fashion cravings is very reminiscent of Sex and the City with a twist of drama from Desperate Housewives.  The costumes are key in Cashmere Mafia-I don't think it is overdone at all.  The costumes speak for the characters.  The belts were everywhere in the first two episodes and I love the styling presence that gives the viewers the cue that this is a bold statement piece.  So, the BIG question is....who is the persona behind all of these costumes, Colleen McTigue.  To tell the truth, I have never heard of her...but, snaps to all of the amazing styling on this new show that I think will become a new fashionista necessity for the week.  

So, meet the cast and see my comparisons to Sex and the City:

Miranda Otto as Juliet Draper:

Is the epitome of chic, very much like the Upper East Side Charlotte with a job and a kid.  But, the styling is all the same.  I would actually compare the mannerisms of Juliet Draper to Bree Van de Kamp from Desperate Housewives untouched with emotion but, always doing things just the way it needs to be done. 

Bonnie Summerville as Caitlin Dowd:

Caitlin is definitely the wild child of this cast as compared to Samantha from Sex and the City.  She is free with her sexuality and still searching for her love in someone and even in herself for that matter.  To begin the season she starts off exploring the idea of being a lesbian.  Her style is very showy and young...they haven't said her age yet...but, I'd think early 30's since her friends are around their mid 40's.

Frances O'Connor as Zoe Burden:

These are all working women, but Zoe does this with two young children and dealing with young assistant's and stay at home moms that are going after her architect husband.  And she does it all in style and with so much strength.  She reminds me of Miranda Hobbs because she is all about keeping her job and working with having a family.

Lucy Lui's character, Mia Mason:

The fashionista of this program, although the entire cast seems to have a strong fashion statement.  But, of course, I would compare Mason's style to Carrie Bradshaw of Sex and the City because she takes the looks to the edge of what some might call too much.  But, I love it because she owns the style in this role.

Fashionalities Sidenote

During my new favorite show, Ultimate Style on the Style Network (hosted by Daisy Fuentes, I remember her fashion show on MTV back in the day:), I found out that Eric, the stylist for Gossip Girl was Patricia Field's assistant for styling Sex and the City. No wonder---that is our connection:) Fashion comes full circle.

Sex and the City=Gossip Girl

A new show, Gossip Girl on the new CW has brought back the weekly fashion indulgences from New York that we have all been longing for since the loss of Sex and the City on HBO (even though there is a movie to come...we still need our weekly fashion fun)...it's a different era of style with Gossip Girl, but, the same risks are being made...it may not be Patricia Fields doing the costume designing and Gossip Girl hasn't helped a designer just yet like Sex and the City did for Manolo or many others...but, great fashion times are to come...Enjoy!

Great Looks Are Back

Some are mad…some are glad…some just don’t care…I on the other hand am going to have this movie in my library for the rest of my life along with Clueless, Funny Face, and all other fashion classics...

As my excitement heightens every time I hear something new about the much anticipated movie, Sex and the City I can't wait to see what will happen in the movie as well as what the girls will be wearing...even though it might all be ruined with my checking youtube for passerbyers taping on the streets of New York and pictures posted all over the Internet...but, oh well...it's all worth it...the movie is happening.

And from the creators of Sex and the City comes a new show...I have to say that I am excited to hear about the new show, Cashmere Mafia, another show centered around real woman working in the real world, fashionably of course:) The show sounds like a mix of the original Desperate Housewives (not the recent Soap Opera version) and Sex and the City...we shall see in December what will come...
