Dear Fashionalities

Q. I love this necklace...how would one wear it???

A. This is a statement piece that I can see being worn several different ways:
1. With white collared blouse---collar up...just a hint of the design on the decolletage makes this a strong piece.
2. With a black shift dress. Keep everything plain and let the necklace do everything.
3. With a basic white tank and a pair of jeans---this instantly dresses up that casual look.
4. I would also pair this with a basic tee and do the same thing you did above...
Really, options are endless...I would just avoid matching the item with anything that already has a strong piece or design element that will make them clash....
Let me know if you have any other questions...I LOVE IT!:)

Never feel like you have to create something to fix a fashion problem...they are all solved by Shop Go Girl. From portable lint sheets to smudge sponges that get rid of those irritating deodorant stains that can hold anyone up...I have tried the putting fabric together and baby wipes and it just takes too much time...have your survival kit together and it's all handled in seconds.

The Search: A Men's White Oxford Shirt

I have been needing a plain white blouse for a while, but after styling my sister in hubbies white dress shirt and then seeing the fashionista of The Vintage Society rocking a top that she says was Lands End, a mere $23~I had to figure out what size I needed:) I am terrible with men's sizing...not my strongest point in my photo shoots---but, I am learning:) But, my dear friend Alanna responded on my facebook and shared some great tips that I had to share with everyone:)

Alanna's tips:

"the smallest is 14.5 neck up to sometimes 20, and the lengths are (32-33), (34-35), (36-37). it depends on how big you'd want it on you. A 16 is pretty big on me. go to kohl's they have some nice, inexpensive dress shirts and try some on. I think they even have some that are a fitted cut. lands end is a sears brand I can't remember if they carry it in their stores though."

Tidbits

Windows I can't seem to close because I can't stop thinking about the particular item...so, I figured I would share these items that I can't seem to let go of....we shall see if I buy any of them:)

Really cool find...I saw a handbag in the July issue of LUCKY mag and they didn't reference where to buy the bag...so, of course...I let curiosity get the best of me and found that the company, Urban Expressions has sample sale dates:

Visit us in our Los Angeles showroom located in the California Market Center (Los Angeles, CA) every last Friday of each month for our monthly sample sale. This is a chance to buy handbags that we have carried in the past as part of our line. Also featured are bags that we carry in our current line. And as a added bonus you can find specialty items that were never introduced to the public!

All bags are sold at wholesale price and there are no minimums!

I heart vintage...and I keep going after military styles...I guess it's that connection to the military...I will never join like my hubby wants me to, but I will keep on styling in their pieces:) Etsy seller: Erstwhilestyle
I forget where I first saw this bracelet...but, I am just in LOVE with tassel anything and to put it on a bangle is just genius...I also seem to be finding so many mags pointing to Chick Downtown for everything...doesn't this bracelet remind you of Hermes???

Better Than Press On Nails---Lash Extensions by Gadabout Salon & Spa

I have finally experienced the two hour process to receive Nova Lash~eyelash extensions at Gadabout Salon and Spa (520-325-0000) by Andi! I fell asleep and even jumped, but it was the BEST experience ever. It makes you relax and then you awake like snow white feeling brand new. I no longer need to depend on mascara or a lash curler and everyone who has seen me so far say that my eyes literally POP:) I love it! This process is not like the type of lashes that you take off each night and reapply. This takes two hours because they are single lashes added to your very own lashes. You get fills every couple of weeks like you would your fingers nails. No mascara needed, unless you prefer to add a little more drama...but, you have to follow strict rules---no water proof mascara and you need to clean with items that have no glycols---which it so happens everything I have right now has:) No mascara or eye makeup for me yet;)
This is the real thing girls! Try this for special occasions or for everyday---it's worth it!

Spoil yourself for FREE!!!

I know I am always sharing how you can take care of yourself for free...which is nice...but, sometimes it's nice to just sit back and relax, right:) Well, Origins is offering Get-Glowing Mini-Facial until June 15th! And, you get options...pick any of the below:
Firm and Lift, Relieve Redness or Hydrate and Repair. Following the customized mini-facial, readers take home a sample of an Origins expert skincare product.
So, get some girlfriends together for a fun, and relaxing outing for FREE!

You've Got the Question's...They've Got the Answers

MSN is answering all your style questions through their Style Studio with names you might remember like, Stefani, the co-owner of SCOOP NYC, Laura from Project Runway (I loved everything she designed onthat show!), Nick, another Project Runway alum, and Troy with Makeup and Ted with hair.  This group stands by the belief that you should, "Dress like you mean it!"  And you can do just that by following this style glam squad tips from beauty to fashion.
Here's a peek into what you can expect on the site (one of my fave recent videos.)...Also, don't forget to check out the style mavens blogs for more tips!

Shoe Scoop

I am officially on the search for the perfect, unexpected shoe for my wedding look in a couple of weeks...the dress is darling, but I need to edge it out...and on a budget.  So, I am looking to the brands that offer designer styling with a budget price tag: Nine West, Michael Antonio, Steve Madden, Aldo and Chinese Laundry.  And the color of the moment is NUDE (which everyone seems to be talking about this week in fashion) instead of the expected gold or silver, or even black...Nude elongates and goes with anything.

Nine West

Michael Antonio

Steve Madden

Aldo-ok, I cheat...I wish this were nude:(  But, this is the type of style I am looking for...

Celeb Styling: Rihanna

Currently Rihanna is one of my fave fashionable celebs!  Now, I can't leave out Sarah Jessica Parker or Tracee Ellis Ross...But, Rihanna is now in my top 5!  I am loving her casual look here that still has some flair---as always....FYI---she is sporting a Brian Reyes design!  She knows how to pick the designers!

Introducing: B. Marie Handbag Line

Did you get to watch Harlem Heights on BET?  If not, that is where I was introduced to the style maven of the show, Briana Bigham who was then in developments of creating her now, handbag line.  Her personal style sparked my initial interest and then when I realized she was going to be designing I knew I had to interview her.  I asked her questions about her line, B. Marie, about her career and education and of course about her style.  Get to know the designer, Briana Bigham and ask any questions you might still have for her and I will get answers.

When will the line launch?

The line will launch the send of the Summer for the Fall 2009 season.

What is the focus of the line-i.e., materials, structure, etc.?
B. Marie is a luxury handbag and luggage collection. Fusing fashion forward chic with an eternal youthful edge. Understanding the needs of edgy, sophisticated consumers, I plan to stay a step ahead by providing quality, long lasting, and well constructed product.
Each bag has a variety of color and different fabrics. Some that are standard for a handbag, a some that are unconventional.

What sets the line apart from all other handbags?
My mission is to continuously provide the most stylish and innovating brand of luxury handbags to complement, enhance, and accent my customers lifestyle. I take an enormous degree of pride in delivering the most creative ideas and concepts to each line of production and design.

Who do you expect your clients to be?
The B. Marie woman is everyone from the Fashion Forward Teen to the Swanky Senior. The big city dweller to the small town socialite. She is stylish, creative, and appreciates the subtle luxuries. She is a leader, never a follower.

Where will the handbags be sold?
I am shooting for boutiques to sell my collection. There will be a link on my website to where you can find the collection mid summer. But for more info you can inquire at info@bmariestyle.com

Does each bag have a name (style)?  What are they and where did the inspiration come from?
Yes, every bag as a name. My favorite is the Tassel Sac Hobo, it was the 1st handbag I designed. I really don't remember where my inspiration came from. It started with the tassel strap, and just kind of came to me after that.

Do you have muses for your line?  If so, who?
I don't really have a muse, I just have a wild imagination.

Do you plan to expand the brand onto other products?  If so, which?
My background is apparel, and handbags were my hobby. But now I want to focus on brand on handbags and luggage. Once I build up a client base I possibly will include apparel and accessories.

What did you go to school for?
My major in college was Fashion Design, with a specialization in Current Scene.

Where did you go to school?
Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City

Do you currently only work on your line or do you have another job?  If so, what is that?
I have been a Technical Designer for the Victoria's Secret PINK line. It was a huge responsibility, and a great place to work. But I have recently left the company to focus 100% on B. Marie. I have always loved being a part of a phenomenal brand, but my dream is to have my own.

Why did you choose to participate in Harlem Heights and share information about your line?
The decision to be involved in Harlem Heights was because my close friends are the cast members. It was a fun idea to film our everyday life, and show the world a different side of young black adults.
The launching of my handbag line has been a major priority in my life, therefore it was showcased in the show.

Where do you shop? Why?

I love boutique's. I like to buy unique pieces that I won't find on another girl. For that I go to vintage stores like Reminisce on 23rd St. When I'm looking for funky shoes, or a unique ensemble I go to LF Boutique on 5th Ave.

How would you describe your fashion?
My fashion style is unexpected. I dress by mood, so you have no idea how I will step out of the house.

Is your style the same on and off camera?
Definitely. I love to push the envelope on what is fashion forward.

What is your favorite go to fashion magazine? blog?
I heart European fashion magazines. Particularly German and London, the style there is amazing.

Who is you style inspiration?
Diana Ross for her role in Mahogany. The location and dramatic gowns had me glued to the screen as a little girl.
My Mom and Dad for their fierce 80's fashion. My parents had matching Burberry trench coats and scarves when I was 6. My Father wore YSL dress shirts, and Lacoste Polo's. And my Mother was never afraid to step out of the box and start trends.(see attached pic)

Are you from New York?  If not, where are your from and what brought you to NY?
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia, but because of my parents careers, I also lived in Kansas City, Dallas, and Seattle. I came to Harlem for the community feel in the big city. And all of my close friends live within a few blocks of me.
I came to New York after I was accepted to FIT. I wanted to be in the NY Fashion industry, and I worked really hard to accomplish that goal.

What are your must-have trends for this season?
Gladiators. I'm in my fourth season wearing them, I think they are timeless. If you don't want to spend anywhere from $800+ on designer styles. Jeffery Campbell makes the best styles for the best price

The Classic: Equestrian Style

With the whole polo excitement, I have been drawn back to the style side of things with Equestrian styling.  I have only ridden a horse once (but, I would like to do it more...)...but, I seem to always be drawn to the equestrian styling...and so it seems do the designers:)  I saw the handbag on Fred Flare and decided I would do a search for the word "Equestrian" on all of my fave sites and share my finds:)  Happy Riding:)
I love the stitching on this satchel.
Who can say no to riding boots??
I am so in love with this jacket!  Elbow detail is always a plus of course:)
These pants are so like the style I am looking for right now...Go through ShopStyle find specific brands or styles that you are looking for...they find everything!
I don't think I would ever wear all of these items together...maybe the jacket with a tee and jeans...the boots with skinny jeans and a tee...and the pants with a classic white blouse or a tee...but, never together...it would look to like you are going to ride a horse:)
