I have finally watched the fashion documentary about Bill Cunningham on Netflix ...
...and now I'm even more intrigued by this fashion icon/artist that I've been following since I moved to/interned in New York City years ago. He has such an interesting story. I would really love to read a biography on him and dig deeper into his life. It's interesting how Bill Cunningham has captured so many peoples lives and yet has really never shared his...until now.
A few quotes that really struck me during the film:
"Fashion is the armor to survive the realty of everyday life."
-Bill Cunningham
"He who seeks beauty will find it."
-Bill Cunningham
"The best fashion show is on the street…”
-Bill Cunningham
"We are all blank canvases when we wake up and we paint ourselves."
-Patrick McDonald
Quoted Joan Crawford, “Whenever she went out she had to be Joan Crawford.”
-Patrick McDonald
I’m always going to be Natasha Rao…Ever changing…always enjoying the art of fashion.
He's been doing this before it was a trend...and has the eye to find what will become a hot trend. I recommend this film to everyone...with ****! Amazing film!

Throwback Thursday: the denim skirt...who is going to bring it back?
I'm really playing with the idea...thoughts?? It used to be a staple in my middle school wardrobe. Why not bring it back?
Look to Gap, Old Navy or Guess for perfect styles. I, of course will be checking out etsy:)
Who What Wear (http://www.whowhatwear.com/the-best-denim-skirts-for-every-shape-style) offers ideas for how to style denim skirts and what style is best for your body type. Although I think the pencil skirt style can work for all shapes. It's just about getting the waist just right. That's where a tailor comes in:)

5 Ways to Wear 1 Scarf and more
I love new ways to wear a scarf (I'm getting a ton of new ones in India for close to nothing)! I can't pick which is my fave style. All I know is I need a maxi strapless dress stat:) I've always wanted to wear a scarf dress but I don't really wear short dresses...the strapless maxi makes it so I can have a new look!
P.S. I was doing the research because my mom found a new way to rock her new scarf that she bought at Free People. Free People in Portland is just sooo amazing! Check out their instagram feed for inspo!

Layering to the next level...
inspired by the Resort 2014/15 Chanel in Dubai show. I LOVE the idea of a light pant or cut-out pant worn under a short jumper...I've always dismissed the short jumper for myself personally just because I have a large bottom half...but, this is something I am very open to explore and it's perfect for India!
***move over tights! it's all about the pants!

Check out the thredUP Summer Shopping Challenge I participated in
I'm all about second hand stores and thrift stores! I've been going through withdrawal from these stores since moving to India and was sooo excited when I got the offer from thredUP to participate in their Summer Shopping Challenge!
The site has a fab selection of items from lower range stores (like Gap or Target) to higher range stores and designer items (like J. Crew to Free People and Marc Jacobs and beyond) and I'd say they are all at a great price! I had fun shopping the different collections and boutiques that organize all of the fab clothes on the site into categories you might be interested in or items other fashionistas have found that might catch your eye.
To make this even more fun, sign up for thredUP today and get $10 towards your first purchase and when you do that you give me $10 to shop with! Woohoo! Plus, shop via the thredUP app and get 20% off your purchase! I found amazing codes on retail me not for the site too if you can't get enough and are shopping the site a lot:)

I love all things elephant so I had to have this!:) Plus, it's the rust color I'm all over right now! Check out my blog on rust color right now:)
I just thought this looked different and had to have it...
I'm addicted to mules right now! Check out my post here to see why:)
This just looked effortless and chic. I had also had an inspiration magazine clipping with a look from EDUN's Spring 2014 runway where the designer paired a dress like this with a pair of Birks. Done and done:) I'm just going to take this gem in to the tailor's and have it taken in to be a little more fitted at the top so I'm not just a big box:)

Introducing my new "IT" shoe, the MULE
- Mule, a French word, is a style of shoe that is backless and often closed-toed. Mules can be any heel height - from flat to high. The style is predominantly (but not exclusively) worn by women.
I don't think the mule style was even in my shoe vocab until recently. And, even when I started seeing this shoe style the height of the heel was way too extreme for my mommy feet:) Recently, I was excited to come upon a few styles that work for my style as a mommy that goes beyond just flats. Here are a few I'm adding to my wardrobe, stat! For some reason, I prefer the style with an open toe instead of a closed toe...not sure why...but, that is what I am leaning towards.
Why I love them...they seem like an easy show to slip into on the go that aren't flip flops or sandals:)

#IIFA Awards 2014 fashion from the red carpets
This is a fun Indian awards show that has a ton of dancing and tons of amazing style! Funny enough it's taped in the U.S. (in Tampa) so there were a few Hollywood stars like John Travolta attending the awards show and performing.
Here are some of my favorite looks from the red carpet:
Kareena Kapoor
I love the deep plunge that doesn't look too revealing like most dresses with cut outs.
Vaani Kapoor
Jeweled to perfection!
Parineeti Chopra in something different
