High waisted swim suits on the rise

Two years ago there really weren't a lot of options I found for high waisted bikinis...and at a good price.  Recently, I've been doing searches for my trip to the Dominican Republic and I'm so excited about the results.  ASOS has a TON of fun options and the great part is that the tops can be changed which means you can get a few to mix it up:)  Or, you can go with a designer like Mara Hoffman which I REALLY want and just rock it...or get a black top to mix it up.  These are super flattering!  I can't wait to share how the one I choose looks:)  Here are a few styles on my radar:
Top Shop Black Cut Out Longline Bikini $60

Forever 21Lemon & Gingham Halter Bikini Top $14

Urban Outfitters (comes in different colors and prints)  Uo Mix & Match High-waisted Bikini Bottom $37

Mara Hoffman Nomad High-Rise Bikini Bottomhttp://bit.ly/ZlpfdK $121

ASOS Tavik High Waisted Bikini Bottoms With Stredded Sides Sale $50

ASOS *These look so flattering!  ASOS Mix and Match High Waisted Bikini Pant $24

Shoe Kick: Painted Bird Crochet Flat

I found Painted Bird through instagram (again, I know:) from Dream Collective via JM Dry Goods.  Both really great brands to follow on instagram.  I just loved how different these shoes looked from anything I've seen and that they are crochet of all things!  They look comfy which I will know if they are after getting them.  But, I've gone from saying I would NEVER wear flats to having 3 kids and deciding I could wear flats and they will be cute.  I also don't want to limit myself to ballet flats so I don't get bored:)

These beauties are sold online at Painted Birds and in places like Anthro.  Although, it looks like they sell out fast at Anthro because the site only has 1 style available right now.  At the Painted Birds site, they are having a sale, but only limited sizes are available...mine are all sold out:(  But, it's 50% off so they are $41 instead of $82!

I LOVE to see how women style these crochet shoes so I wanted to share some of the photos I found on Painted Birds facebook page to show how versatile they are.  I love how they mix prints with them or just wear them with basic jeans.  Here are a few ways I would style these beauties!

Representing: Natural hair tee, please #curlytalk

LOVING these curly hair tee's

I started noticing people wearing shirts that represent their au natural hair and LOVED them!  I thought I would share some of the styles I'm considering for all my natural hair readers:)  Which do you all like?  Is anyone rocking them?  I think you could def pair it with jeans or leggings...but, I'm also thinking it would be fun with an African print skirt...we shall see.

Beyonce rocking Giraffe Walk Shoes

The Giraffe Walk shoe

I didn't even know Beyonce had rocked these shoes that I've been drooling over...I think I found out about the line through a fashion bloggers instagram...but, after falling in love with the handmade in New York shoe that has Indian style names I found out that Beyonce rocked them on one of her blog/#OOTD images. They cost from $225-300, but they are made in the U.S. and handmade.  Pretty genius.  You know they will last and have all of the quality  you need in a shoe that will last FOREVER.  I also LOVE the colors!  I want a metallic version in either AGRA or JAIPUR.
Follow the label on instagram for insider info on the brand.  I found out that the brand will be sold on amazon which I found interesting.  I can't wait to support the brand.  Saving now:)  Here is more on how the shoe is made here.

Ok, this brand, MIA is great because it's fashionable...but, still functional and the price is great so you won't feel bad if the kids spill things on them or you wear them out running after the kids:) I spotted this shoe on JCPenney's website while looking for a shoe that had in a Sunday newspaper (that I never found).  But, I spotted it and know I have to have it!  And, that I should share with everyone:)  Now, remember things I find that are perfect for mommies can also be rocked by any fashionista.  The other great thing about these shoes are they can be worn with almost anything this spring/summer.

Etsy inspiration

I love looking to Etsy to see how sellers are styling the pieces I'm looking for. Always a lot of unique styling ideas to take away. Here are a few I've found searching 'vintage Indian pieces.'

90's style: I'm in the mood for high waisted (vintage) suede shorts this summer

I know...another 90's trend is creeping into my fashion focus. Just like the 80's trend I was so sure I wouldn't do it and then I'm still wearing leggings today (lol ). Now I'm searching for pieces on etsy and poshmark. Im not sure if I want to go camel or have fun and rock a color...but i want it to be a longer, fuller silhouette. Is anyone else thinking about suede shorts?

Weekend inspiration from Tracee Elliss Ross Vintage Dress Story

I need to find an amazing seamstress!  I have a ton of projects like Tracee does where I see the potential or want to rework a vintage find.  These are fab ideas!  I've never even considered making a dress with sleeves sleeveless.  I bet the dress she has on is going to be AMAZE!  Make sure and follow Tracee's blog and social media for more inspiration.

EEK! Mara Hoffman has reduced her sale prices MORE!

Get ready to nab the pieces you've been seeing Kourtney rock on Kourtney & Kim Take Miami!  I shared some of the pieces here.

What I bought: Duro Olowu for JCP

So, today was the BIG day for Duro Olowu to be at JC Penney and even though my local store didn't have everything I was in heaven!  Everything was such great quality and really cute!  And, AMAZING prices!  I got 4 items for ONLY $125!  Plus, I can't wait to go back when things go on sale...I have to be honest:)  I wanted more, but held myself back.  I guess it's nice to live in a small market where a lot of people aren't rushing to get everything.

I saw the colorful clutch and wanted it right away but decided on the smaller version since I don't think I would get as much use out of the clutch.  I also opted for the linen piece because it seemed like something I could wear more and I like that it was a natural fabric.  I really wanted the paisley pieces but they were all poly...so I figured once the prices drop I'll come and get it it all:)  I am in LOVE with the gold dress!  It would be perfect for a special occasion or a future Christmas party.  I think  I will be going back for that as well:)  Notebooks were a MUST and I'm thinking I need the umbrella for grey days:)

Mannequin

I'm not the type of shopper who buys an entire look off of a mannequin. But, I am inspired by everything so if I'm in a store like Buffalo Exchange I will look at everything. Usually stores get their display direction from corporate with an allowance to change things up minimally. When I'm at at a store like Urban that I love I take notes and then play with what I have at home with the inspiration. Here is an idea of what I did recently on a trip to SF. It just gives you a fresh, new perspective on items you might already have in your closet.
