Drinks Up

My favorite drink ever is a French Martini and it has Chambord. This year Chambord is hosting a fab new idea called the coat room for the tents at Fashion Week. The lounge is called "The Princes of Chambord."

Here is how to make a french martini:

French Martini

2 oz Vodka

2 oz Chambord

2oz Pineapple Juice Back

a shaker full of ice and add all ingredients.

Shake or stir*. Stain into a martini glass. Garnish with a lemon twist.* I shake because the pineapple juice makes the drink cloudy anyway, and the shaking give the drink a nice light texture because pineapple juice froths nicely. When the Chambord company was creating the French Martini, it might have been more French to include brandy instead of vodka. One of these days I’ll shake one up with brandy and check out whether it works or not. They probably tried it and decided that for mass appeal and the martini moniker, vodka was the proper choice. For now, if you want to put a little more “french” in your French Martini, use Ciroc vodka which is a grape based vodka (sounds like grappa to me). Or you can use the ubiquitous Grey Goose vodka which is of french origin.
Another good cocktail to make with Chambord is simply adding an ounce to a flute of champagne. This is a much nicer cocktail than a Kir Royale, even though a Kir Royale is a great drink also. It's good to mix thing up every once in a while.

I feel like I have been talking about these shoes forever...great priced shoes...for the spring and summer for only $49.99.

India is the next Fashion Capitol

I love INDIA way too much, but I am soooo excited!!!!!!!!!!! I read about a new edition of VOGUE starting in India in the Fall...but, I couldn't find an image to share...well, until then...check out the story below at Fashion Week Daily about the new editor-in-chief of the Vogue for India.

Milk Does a Body Good

It's AMAZING hearing stories about real people!!!!! A friend of mine from work told me that her friend is living every girls dream, she has opened to doors to her own L.A. Boutique selling everything that she loves. The boutique is called, Milk, and she is doing just that...milking all of the publicity that she is getting from magazines and celebrity clientele. If you can't get to the store on West 3rd Street check out the site at http://www.shopatmilk.com/.
Items on the site range from well-known designer like DVF:

Nieves Levi:

And not so well-known designers like Manoush:

And they offer designer Vintage like Emilio Pucci:

COMING SOON...mark your calendars, your Tivo's and your DVR's

The Season Premiere of America's Next Top Model comes on February 28th...I look forward to all of the inside industry talk...but, it's fun to watch all of the drama too:)

This is What's Up!

Everyone is finally giving into the high waist pants...hello, I have been talking about this forever…alas everyone can’t be on top of trend development before they see them on the runways…the only thing is that the Fug Girls are saying that we can use our mothers jeans…although these are high waists…these are the ones that create a pucker in the tummy, i.e. the 5pocket cowboy jean…these are elegant lines that show of the womanly curve we all have…I think that this style is very sexy and alluring, not matronly…the best bodies for this shape are pear (finally something that accentuates my body right) and the trim and slim/long and lean. Enjoy this look that we thought would never return with a flattering twist.

*I also found out about another high waist style called the paper bag style that was big in the 70's...I just found a pair of pants at EXPRESS that were soo cute...

It is Official!

Even more of a reason to watch the Academy Awards show on February 26th…Andre’ Leon Talley will be the host of the pre-show!!!!!!!!!!
Talley is a notable fashion icon that is the editor-at-large for the fashion bible, VOGUE...he is always the first article in the magazine. He also influences my favorite designer Tracy Reese and on February 26th he will be hosting the pre-show for the Academy Awards reviewing all of the AMAZING looks we watch on the red carpet...get your notebooks ready and take notes!

Can it Get any Better Than This?

In 3-6 months I'd say either Macy's or Bloomingdale's will be offering an opportunity for you to share you finds with friends or family while in the dressing room...How great could this be? Finally, all of the technology that I love is being used the right way!!!!!!!!! This new fashion resource is called the Magic Mirror...and it makes sharing your dilemma with someone easier...I remember taking pictures of myself through the mirror with my digital camera and the photos were just ok...now you can take great photos, send to friends and get responses to make the whole shopping experience much easier...why feel like you are being tricked into buying something by the associate? Now you can ask someone you trust...Can you tell how excited I am:) I am such a fashion nerd! Well, Check out the whole article at CNN.com...just select the title of this blog.

Old Company Doing New Tricks

I think this is a smart move for the Jones New York company that I would have never considered giving a second look to…although they are a classic well-known, and established company I have never looked at Jones New York as a fashion plate…but, with Lloyd Boston as the style guy for Jones New York I may be giving the company a chance…we shall see

BTW Did you know that JNY owns Barney’s…go figure!

Discounts R Us:)

I just went to TJ Maxx today and noticed that they are selling DVF cosmetics for less than $6 for each item...when did this happen? I remember when DVF was launching her cosmetics line at Henri Bendels in 2004!!!!!!!! I was in NYC and barely had a cent to my name and I still bought a bronzer:)lol...well, now everyone has access...get it while it is still there!!!!!!!
Why not get in the mood and read this book that DVF wrote about in 1979 to be inspired and try new things with your makeup/your look...and this was way before Bobbi Brown:) But, still snaps to her too:)
